Ecclesiastes
Ecclesiastes by Stephen Clover
The writer is examining himself. He struggles with reality and the meaning of life. At times it’s an almost negative experience. But then something happens. It’s as if he’s seen the light.
When we first turn on a hose, a lot of warm water comes out and it has a sickly taste. After a while it begins to get cold, then it tastes good. So it is with the book of Ecclesiastes. To get the full thrust we need to read all twelve chapters. Then you will be able to understand what the Holy Spirit is saying.
It is a comparison between an unbeliever and a believer. It teaches that nothing can fill that gap within us except God. And until we walk into His open arms we will never experience that perfect peace. The peace that is, that passes all understanding.
This is now my 25th year as a Christian. Every so often I do a self examination. A little spiritual exercise we might like to call it. In other words I had a long hard look at myself.
After comparing what is, with what used to be. A change has happened. Things are definitely not the way they once were. This change has been a change for the better. It has slowly progressed over time.
Without a relationship with God all is vanity. Everything is meaningless. A mere chasing of the wind. The author of this book knew it to be true.
